Process and device making it possible to transmit information over a line of an electrical power transmission network, for example for the remote monitoring of the operation of a bank of lights. In accordance with the main objective, transmission is permitted only when the line is unenergised, the enhancement consisting in transmitting the information in the form of pulses at low frequency and with subtantially zero average amplitude so as to make it possible to cross through transformers.
