R 1> : H, 1-3C-alkyl or R 3>; R 2> : cyclic 2-22C-alkyl, which is optionally saturated; R 3> : saturated 1-3C-alkyl substituted by -O-(CH 2-CHZ-O) p-H; X, Y 1>, Z : H or CH 3; n, m : 1-45; and p : 0-45, where the sum of n, m and p is 2-70. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# (I) are useful as foam surfactant (claimed), preferably low-foam wetting agents. #CMT#ORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preparation (Disclosed): Preparation of (I) comprises reacting cyclic carbonates (1 mole) with an excess of amine (1.01-5 mole, preferably 1.05-2.5 mole) and ethoxylation and/or propoxylation of the obtained intermediate compounds in the presence of potassium hydroxide catalyst. #CMT#DEFINITIONS : #/CMT# Preferred Definitions: R 1>, X, Y 1>, Z : H; R 2> : 2-ethylhexyl group; R 3> : CH 2OH; and n+m+p : 10-25. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# 2-Ethylhexylamine (1.05 mole) was heated at 45[deg] C over nitrogen. Further ethylene carbonate (1 mole) was added to the 2-ethylhexylamine and reacted at = 60[deg] C. During the following reaction time of 3.5 hours, the reaction temperature was maintained at 60[deg] C. As soon as a constant 2-ethylhexylamine number was reached, the excess 2-ethylhexylamine was removed. The obtained intermediate compound (1.39 mole) was ethoxylated under potassium hydroxide catalyst (2.22 g), evacuated at 100[deg] C and 30 mbar for 30 minutes under nitrogen to obtain corresponding ethoxylated urethane compound with a viscosity of 160 mPas.</p>
