<p>The present invention concerns an in vitro method of diagnosis or prognosis of a mitochondrial disease by detecting at least one of MEST, microRNA-335 or microRNA-335*, a precursor of said microRNA-335 and microRNA-335* and their use as biomarker of mitochondrial disease. The invention further concerns a ligand specifically binding to at least one of said biomarkers, for use for diagnosing or prognosing of a mitochondrial disease, a pair of primers suitable for amplifying a nucleic acid encoding for at least one of said biomarkers and the kit comprising such ligand and/or pair of primers.</p> |
