A wearable device 1 such as a wristwatch (fig. 2A) comprises a plurality of sensors 3, 5 to detect a physiological parameter (e.g. humidity). At least one first sensor is has a first sensitivity to the physiological parameter and at least one second sensor has a second sensitivity to the physiological parameter. A parameter profile, comprising a plurality of measurements of the physiological parameter at different sensitivities, is provided. The sensors 3, 5 may be provided at different distances from the skin 11 of the user, or different materials may be used for the different sensors. The sensors may be stacked on top of one another, or may be adjacent to one another (figs. 2B&C). The sensors may additionally act as proximity sensors. Temperature and ambient humidity sensors may also be provided. Sweat gland activity may be determined from the measurements. |
