<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated magnetite particle which exhibits high hydrophobicity, maintains the high hydrophobicity even after stored under high temperature and humidity, and also exhibits high heat resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The coated magnetite particle is formed by coating a surface of a core particle of magnetite with a silane compound. A ratio of a metal element except for iron which exists on the surface of the core particle is 0.2 mass% to a mass of the coated magnetite particle. Iron and one, two or more kinds of metal elements are contained inside the core particle.
