PURPOSE:To carve a pit in a printing plate material by laser beam of small output by enhancing the combustibility due to the irradiation with laser beam of the printing plate material. CONSTITUTION:A plate material 11 for gravure printing is formed of a combustible substance 12 and an oxidizing agent 13 or formed of a self-combustible substance combustible by the oxidizing agent contained in said substance itself. Or, said plate material is formed of the combustible substance and the self- combustible substance combustible by the oxidizing agent contained in said substance itself.
