<p>An apparatus and method are disclosed for rotating a glass container (290) in an inspection station having rollers (296,298) for supporting the container for rotation. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a base assembly including a motor (90) which is adjustably mounted (106,300) at the inspection station. A carriage assembly including a ware rotate wheel (192) and belt (250) is mounted on the base assembly in a linearly moveable fashion and is urged toward the container by springs (174). The ware rotate belt (250) passes around a drive pulley (96) of the motor, around the ware rotate wheel (192), and around an idler pulley (214) mounted on the carriage assembly on the side of the drive pulley (96) remote from the ware rotate wheel (192). When the portion of the belt (250) located upon the ware rotate wheel initially contacts the container (290) and the container has not yet been spun up to full rotation speed by the belt, the rotation of the drive pulley (96) by the motor (90) causes an increase in tension in the portion of the belt extending from the ware rotate wheel around the idler pulley (214) to the drive pulley, thereby urging the carriage assembly toward the container.</p> |
