In live music performances it is desirable for a mixing console operator to hear the result of all processing of a single input signal provided by various processing steps without other input signals being present. Thus, a console processes an input signal independently of other inputs, producing operator output signal (solo) 210, the processing being identical to that applied in combination to the same signal, in combination with other signals, for output mix 180. A mixing console comprises first and second input channels, the first comprising a first means 125 initially processing the first input and providing two first identical output signals; the second input channel comprises means 150 similarly providing second identical output signals. First and second secondary processing (output channel) means 130, 160 respectively process first output signals from the first and second input channels, producing respective first and second tertiary output signals. Output channel(s) further comprise tertiary processing means 170, combining and processing first and second tertiary output signals, producing a first output mix. Quaternary processors 190, 200 receive the second output signals, processing in an identical way to a combined processing by the first secondary and the tertiary processing means, providing an operator output signal. |
