<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a calculation amount for best mode determination in a moving image coding device. <P>SOLUTION: The moving image coding device includes: in regard to each of a plurality of full search blocks distributed with a prescribed density among macro blocks included in each frame of the moving image data, a full search portion for searching for a best mode having a minimum cost among the entire prediction modes; in regard to each predicted block other than the full search blocks among the macro blocks included in each frame, a category prediction portion for predicting a prediction mode category to which the best mode in the predicted block of a search object belongs, based on the macro block search result in a reference range including a macro block adjacent to the predicted block among the macro blocks of which best mode search is completed; and in regard to each predicted block, a prediction search portion for searching for the best mode among the prediction modes included in the category predicted in the category prediction portion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
