The present invention relates to a method for analyzing a facial image using local fine patterns. The facial image analysis method according to an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of setting adjacent area pixels of an nxn mask; applying a symmetric compass operator; calculating the reaction size for the edge in the direction of m; selecting a first coefficient and a second coefficient; displaying the direction number of the first and second coefficients; separating the levels of the first and second coefficients and generating the level codes accordingly; and configuring a recognition code expressing local fine patterns for specific bits based on the level codes.
