The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for controlling selected content in a mobile terminal. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for controlling selected content in a mobile terminal comprises the steps of: displaying content on a screen; displaying a tray on the screen when text is selected from the content; and displaying information and a recommended application related thereto on the tray when a user moves the selected text to the tray. Therefore, the method enables a user to select collected text and collect the selected text on the tray without inconvenience that the user copies and pastes the text to relevant fields one by one, recommends an application related to the collected text and, when a selection of an application is detected, runs the selected application, and controls the selected application to collectively map the text to the relevant fields, thereby simplifying the process.
