<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roof snow coverage detection method capable of correctly determining whether there is snow coverage or not even if the snow coverage on a roof surface includes moisture and is in a sherbet-state, without malfunction due to influence of sunlight and illumination in day and night, influence of shadows of buildings and wet and dryness on a road surface.SOLUTION: A camera 1 captures an image of a roof surface 3 on a predetermined area including a roof surface sign 4, the captured image is read by a computer 5 as gradation data for each pixel for creating a gradation distribution histogram of the roof surface. Based on the gradation distribution histogram, by applying a threshold value determination method, a threshold value is determined. Then, the gradation data for each pixel on an area including no roof surface sign on the captured image and the threshold value are compared for determining whether there is snow coverage or not.</p> |
