<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent the occurrence of white smoke as a result of oil leaking from between the mating surfaces of a head body and a cylinder head cover and dropping onto an exhaust manifold.SOLUTION: On a portion of one side face 2a of a head body 2 on an exhaust manifold 5, a rib 9 is provided which has a length enough to cover the exhaust manifold 5 at its upper side. A shield plate 10 is fixed to the front face of the rib 9. The upper end of the shield plate 10 has a length enough to cover the lower end of a cylinder head cover 3. When a difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the head body 2 and the cylinder head cover 3 produces a clearance between their mating surfaces and then oil leaks from the clearance, the shield plate 10 blocks the flow of oil onto the exhaust manifold 5 to surely prevent the occurrence of white smoke.</p> |
