PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge device that suppresses deterioration of the quality of images recorded on paper when recording the images including code images on the paper.SOLUTION: A liquid discharge device performs preliminary discharge for discharging ink from a plurality of discharge ports to paper separately from image recording. Determination means determines whether or not data on code images including identification information is included in image data within recording means and whether the code image data is data related to one-dimensional codes or two-dimensional codes. When inclusion of the code image data in the image data is determined, preliminary discharge data preparation means prepares preliminary discharge data, so that the amount of preliminary discharge when images of one-dimensional codes are formed is smaller than the amount of preliminary discharge when the images of the one-dimensional codes are assumed to be images of two-dimensional codes having the same area. |
