<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for checking the charge status of a backup power source as required according to a method of updating firmware.SOLUTION: An information processing device includes: a first method of accessing a server and obtaining firmware to be updated from the server via the Internet; and a second method of obtaining the firmware from an external device that has already stored the firmware. In addition, the information processing device includes: a volatile memory that stores the obtained firmware; and a battery that supplies power to the volatile memory when power of the information processing device is turned off. When obtaining the firmware by using the first method, the information processing device checks the charge status of the battery and as a result of the check, if the battery is sufficiently charged, obtains the firmware by using the first method and stores it in the volatile memory; and, if the battery is not sufficiently charged, displays an alarm message on a display section without obtaining the firmware.</p> |
