PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a resonance frequency using a simple method without giving an element a stress which may cause destruction.SOLUTION: A power transmission apparatus 101 wirelessly transmits electric power to a power reception apparatus 102 in a non-contact state by resonance. The power transmission apparatus 101 includes: a high-frequency power supply 1 for generating high-frequency power; a frequency control section 9 for controlling a driving frequency of the high-frequency power supply 1; a rectifier circuit 4 for outputting a DC voltage; a low-voltage generation circuit 5 for outputting a lower DC voltage than the DC voltage output from the rectifier circuit 4; and a relay 6 for switching between a first state where a DC voltage output from the low-voltage generation circuit 5 is supplied to the high-frequency power supply 1 and a second state where a DC voltage output from the rectifier circuit is supplied to the high-frequency power supply 1.
