PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer capable of reducing a material amount and suppressing a positional deviation of the spacer while controlling a water flow of a cooling medium.SOLUTION: A spacer 1 partially arranged in a cooling passage 3 of an internal combustion engine 2 to adjust a distribution flow rate of a cooling medium includes: a spacer piece 10 formed along the cooling passage; and a first engagement part 13 formed on a surface of the spacer piece on an outer wall 3a side of the cooling passage and projected in a thickness direction of the spacer piece. The first engagement part can be abutted on and engaged with an overhanging part overhanging from the outer wall of the cooling passage and is configured to regulate the movement of the spacer in a flow direction of the cooling medium.
