PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance focus detection accuracy by improving, for each lens model, computation accuracy of a conversion coefficient required for converting an image shift amount between focus detection signals into a defocus amount.SOLUTION: An image capturing device has effective aperture value computation means for computing an effective aperture value corresponding to an image height using light volume information and a reference aperture value of an image capturing optical system, and computes a conversion coefficient using the effective aperture value corresponding to the image height.
