Magneto-optic properties are improved by the addition of Zr and Te to TbFeCo recording media, and by forming protection layers with ZrO2 and TiO2. The chemical formula of the recording media is TbxCoy(Fe1-a(ZrbTe1-b)a)z, where x=20-22, y=6-10, z=65-75, x+y+z=100, a=0.04-0.08 and b=0.5-1.0. The ratio of ZrO2 and TiO2 in the protection layers is 50/50. The media have enhanced recording sensitivity and Kerr's rotation angle.
