摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal print head which can achieve an increase in energy efficiency.SOLUTION: A thermal print head comprises a substrate 11 having a substrate principal surface 111, a resistor layer 4 formed on the substrate principal surface 111, an electrode layer 3 which is formed on the substrate principal surface 111 and conducts with the resistor layer 4, and a protective layer 6 which covers the resistor layer 4 and the electrode layer 3. The electrode layer 3 includes a first conduction part 31 and a second conduction part 32 which are separated from each other in a first direction X1 via a clearance 39; the resistor layer 4 includes a heat generation part 41 spanning the first conduction part 31 and the second conduction part 32 when viewed in the thickness direction Z of the substrate 11; and the protective layer 6 includes a first portion having a first thickness L11 and a second portion having a second thickness L12. The first portion is a region which overlaps the clearance 39 when viewed in the thickness direction Z; the second portion is a region which overlaps the first connection part 31 when viewed in the thickness direction Z and is adjacent to the first portion in the first direction X1; and the first thickness L11 is thicker than the second thickness L12.
