<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having duplex printing function, configured to prevent increase in unnecessary power consumption when a fixing condition is controlled according to a surface property of a recording material in single-sided printing.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: first surface property detection means 40a and a second smoothness detection unit 40b for detecting surface properties of both sides of a recording material; recording surface deciding means which decides a surface of the recording material where an image can be formed with less power consumption, on the basis of a result of comparing the surface properties of both sides of the recording material detected by the first surface property detection means 40a and the second smoothness detection unit 40b in single-sided printing; and control means 500 which forms an image on a surface of the recording material decided by the recording surface deciding means, and controls a fixing condition on the basis of the detected surface property of the surface.</p> |
