PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress dryness of a liquid in a discharge part; and to ensure uniformity of thickness of a liquid applied to an object to be coated.SOLUTION: A coating applicator includes: a discharge part to discharge a liquid upward; and a control part to control the discharge part so that the discharge part discharges the liquid when an object to be coated which moves between a coating position and a non-coating position relative to the discharge part is located at the non-coating position, that after the discharge of the liquid is stopped before the object to be coated arrives at the coating position, the liquid is discharged to coat the object to be coated at the coating position, and that the discharge of the liquid is stopped from when the coating of the liquid to the object to be coated is terminated to when the object to be coated departs from the coating position.
