The present invention relates to a device for controlling a driving mode of a vehicle and, more specifically, to a device and a method for controlling a driving mode of a vehicle, capable of controlling the driving mode according to short and long driving tendencies of a driver. To achieve the purpose, according to an embodiment of the present invention, the device for controlling the driving mode of the vehicle includes a driving information detecting part detecting driving information for determining a driving tendency of the driver; and a control unit calculating a short driving tendency index of the driver based on the driving information and controlling at least one among an engine and a transmission according to the short driving tendency index. The control unit calculates a medium driving tendency index by using the short driving tendency index, sets a delay time by using the medium driving tendency index, enters a sport mode based on the short driving tendency index, and releases the sport mode after delaying the mode as much as the delay time from a condition satisfaction time satisfying a release condition when the short driving tendency index satisfies the release condition of the sport mode. |
