A silicon-containing compound is an additive of an electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery to improve the life characteristics of a lithium secondary battery at room temperature and high temperatures and/or the high temperature stability of a lithium secondary battery. An electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery includes the silicon-containing compound. A lithium secondary battery includes the electrolyte. In addition, provided is a manufacturing method of the silicon-containing compound. The silicon-containing compound is represented by chemical formula 1. The silicon-containing compound is included in a content of 0.01-25 wt% with respect to the total weight of the electrolyte.
