Embodiments of the invention are based on the idea of providing a system (2) and method for safe handling of a fuel additive in connection with a fuel dispensing unit (1). This is basically achieved by replacement of a container (11) containing said fuel additive when a fuel additive level is at a first predetermined level within said container (11), with another container (11) containing fuel additive at a second predetermined level.
