PURPOSE:To make high speed drive of a trigger transformer in a trigger circuit which is provided in a discharge lamp lighting device and generates trigger pulses by using an IGBT element working in response to trigger signals. CONSTITUTION:In a trigger circuit an IGBT element Q4 for generation of trigger pulses is connected in series to the primary winding of a trigger transformer T1. A drive signal with a voltage higher than the voltage Vcc given by signal circuits Q1, Q2 driven with signaling line supply voltage Vc is impressed on the gate of this element Q4 and the element Q4 is driven in On condition. Accordingly the transformer T1 is high speed driven by the element Q4. The gate circuit of the element Q4 can be made low impedance and low loss, and the element Q4 is driven with a high gate voltage, and it is possible to generate high voltage on the secondary side of the transfornmer T1 effectively which permits constructing the transformer T1 in a small size. |
