DEVICE FOR MEASURING RADIOACTIVE CONTAMINATION OF MATERIAL BODY

PURPOSE: To provide a device to measure contamination of an object such as a foodstuff by radioactive elements. CONSTITUTION: A crystal scintillator 1 is provided, and the scintillator 1 is formed so as to sense radioactive raysγemitted from an object when its end part is applied to the object containated by decay of radioactive elements I, Cs and Co. A photon generated in the scintillator 1 by the radioactive raysγis converted into electric charge by a photodiode 2. Devices 3 and 7 to convert this electric charge into a voltage pulse amplifies and filters its frequency. Contamination of the object by individuals of the radioactive elements can be measured by a count of pulses in plural bands and deconvolution performed by an electronic device 8 integrally formed with the devices. It can be used in a portable wide area diffusive radioactive contamination measuring device.
