1. A method for managing an inventory of event reservations in a computer-based reservation system, comprising:
configuring a first POS computing device to operate at a first location by loading data and instructions onto the first POS computing device including:
(i) schedule data for a plurality of events originating at a plurality of locations including the first location, the other locations having other POS computing devices configured similarly to the first POS computing device,(ii) inventory data including at least a total reservation capacity for each event, and(iii) inventory allocation programming instructions for calculating an allocation of reservation inventory for each event to the first POS computing device; receiving, at the first POS computing device, a data packet having inventory status data for the other POS computing devices including current inventory allocations, current inventory usage, and projected inventory demand for each event for each of the other POS computing devices; calculating, using the inventory allocation programming instructions in the first POS computing device, an allocation of reservation inventory for each event for the first POS computing device, the calculation performed as a function of the total reservation capacity for the event, and one or more of the inventory status data for other POS computing devices for the event, and an inventory status data of the first POS computing device for the event; and operating the first POS computing device to sell the calculated allocation of inventory for reservations for each event. |
