The present invention is an elevator rope (28) of which an inner-layer rope (1) has a plurality of steel inner-layer strands (4) and a resin inner-layer rope covering (5) that covers the outer periphery. A plurality of outer-layer strands (2) are twisted together at the outer periphery of the inner-layer rope (1). The outer-layer strands (2) each have: an outer-layer strand fiber core (8); and a plurality of steel wires (10) twisted together at the outer periphery of the outer-layer strand fiber core (8). The present invention is thereby such that during the initial period of use, rope grease from the outer-layer strand fiber core (8) is supplied to the wires (10) of the outer-layer strands (2); after cracks have arisen in the inner-layer rope covering (5) as a result of use over the years, it is possible to supply rope grease to the wires (10) of the outer-layer strands (2) through the cracks; and it becomes possible to maintain lubricity resulting from the rope grease over the long term from the initial period of use. |
