The invention relates to a separator plate (10) for a fuel cell. The separator plate (10) has areas which are in contact with a reactant during an operation of the fuel cell. The areas comprise a reactant flow field with a plurality of channels (12) configured to provide a reactant to an electrode of a membrane electrode assembly of the fuel cell. The areas further comprise a reactant port and a plurality of reactant passages (16) located between the reactant port and the reactant flow field. In at least one of the areas the separator plate (10) has a coating (18), which is more hydrophobic at a first temperature than at a second temperature. The invention further relates to a fuel cell system with a fuel cell stack comprising a plurality of such separator plates (10) and to a vehicle with such a fuel cell system.
