PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter which improves the durability of a housing and reduces sound noise during driving without increasing the costs and the size. ! SOLUTION: A starter includes: an output shaft 4 which receives a rotation force of a motor part to rotate; a housing 17 which rotatably supports the one side end of the output shaft 4; and an electromagnetic device which energizes the motor part and interrupts the electric current flowing to the motor part, the electromagnetic device which applies a pressing force traveling toward the ring gear side to a pinion gear through a clutch mechanism. A cushioning part 50 which cushions an axial impact applied from the output shaft 4 to the housing 17 is provided between the housing 17 and one side end part 104b of the output shaft 4. !
