A smokeless tobacco or non-tobacco snuff composition for oral use comprising at least 20 wt% water based on the total weight of the final composition and at least 1 wt% lactic acid or a salt thereof based on the dry weight of the final smokeless tobacco or non-tobacco snuff composition, as well as a method for its manufacture and the use of such composition.
