PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize an ignition timing for air-fuel mixture in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: The temperature T2 of air-fuel mixture at a compression top dead in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine is calculated by the following equation, and an ignition timing is adjusted according to the level of the calculated temperature T2 of compressed air-fuel mixture. T2=THA×(&egr;)&kgr;where, THA is the temperature of intake air inflowing into the cylinder in an intake stroke, and &egr; is the compression ratio of the cylinder, and &kgr; is the specific heat ratio of the intake air filled in the cylinder. |
