The purpose of the present invention is to provide an efficient slime control method for a white water circulation system (22) involved in a papermaking process. The present invention is a slime control method for a white water circulation system (22) involved in a papermaking process, the method having: a step in which one or both of the white water circulation system (22) and a water system (19) that leads into the white water circulation system (22) are aerated with an oxygen-containing gas; and a step for adding a slime-controlling agent to at least one system from among the white water circulation system (22) and the leading-in water system (19), the system to which the agent is added having been aerated with the oxygen-containing gas in the aeration step. It is desirable that the method also have a step for measuring at least one item selected from a group of measurement items, the group comprising the redox potential, sulfite ion concentration, and dissolved oxygen content of the white water circulation system (22), and that the method control the amount of slime-controlling agent added in the slime-controlling agent addition step and/or the amount of aeration in the aeration step on the basis of the measurement results obtained in the measurement step. |
