PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical active cable and an optical transmission system that are able to monitor the optical intensity of light emitted by a light-emitting element without making the structure of an optical module complicated.SOLUTION: An optical active cable comprises: optical intensity detection units 11a, 11b that are mounted on both optical modules 2a, 2b respectively, and detect optical intensity of light received by light-receiving elements 7a, 7b of receiving units 8a, 8b; communication means 12 for transmitting and receiving optical intensity data detected by the optical intensity detection units 11a, 11b between both the optical modules 2a, 2b; and optical intensity transmitting/receiving units 13a, 13b that are mounted on both the optical modules 2a, 2b respectively, transmit the optical intensity data detected by the optical intensity detection units 11a, 11b to opposite side optical modules 2b, 2a via the communication means 12, and receive the optical intensity data transmitted by the opposite side optical modules 2b, 2a via the communication means 12. |
