The purpose of the present invention is to achieve a configuration which is suitably applicable to endoscopes with small diameters, and which enables illumination of a wide angular range of equal to or more than 180˚. Accordingly, provided is an illumination device (100) provided with: a light-emission unit (1) having an emission end (1a) from which illumination light is emitted; a diffusion layer (2) which is disposed along a circle having a prescribed axis (A) at the centre thereof, which guides and diffuses the illumination light that has entered from the emission end (1a), and which emits, from a surface thereof, said illumination light; and a reflective layer (3) which is provided abutting a surface of the diffusion layer (2) at an inner side in a radial direction, and which reflects the illumination light outwards in the radial direction. |
