PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for purifying isoprene from renewable resources and similar materials, and to provide a purified isoprene composition obtained as a result.SOLUTION: A composition comprises isoprene and bio-byproduct impurities, in which the bio-byproduct impurities comprise 5C hydrocarbons, and there are more than about 99.94 wt.% of isoprene based on the weight of 5C hydrocarbons and less than about 0.05 wt.% of the bio-byproduct based on the weight of isoprene. The composition is obtained by a method and an apparatus for purifying isoprene, including purification of a bio-isoprene composition from an off-gas of a fermentor 12. The apparatus includes two columns 14, 24 that process the fermentor off-gas including isoprene and various impurities. A production method of purified isoprene includes a method in which a solvent 30 is added to the off-gas in the first column 14, and the isoprene is stripped from the solvent in the second column 24. |
