PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material for an emblem, which is highly decorative regardless whether day or night by allowing a certain quantity of light to pass through not only the outer contour of the base material for the emblem but also the contour of a shaped part such as a character, figure, and so on, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor.SOLUTION: A base material for an emblem, using transparent resin, comprises: a shaped part having the form of a character, figure and/or symbol, which has metallic luster; a light transmission part that frames the shaped part and allows transmission of light; and a body part, other than the shaped part and light transmission part. In a case where the light transmissivity of the light transmission part from the back of the base material for the emblem to the surface thereof and the light transmissivity of the body part from the back of the base material for the emblem to the surface thereof are measured in the range of 380 nm to 700 nm, the wavelength at which the light transmission part has the maximum value is longer than the wavelength at which the body part has the maximum value. |
