PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soluble and conductive polymer which can be dissolved in various polar organic solvents so that any solvent can be selected freely according to the utilization purpose and the industrial application range of which is very wide, and to provide a method for producing the soluble and conductive polymer, which method is simple and allows the amount of generated wastewater to be made small and consequently is effective in cost saving and environmental protection.SOLUTION: The soluble and conductive polymer is doped with an acid. The base-type one of the soluble and conductive polymer has 5,000 or lower weight-average molecular weight. The soluble and conductive polymer exhibits 3% or higher solubility to the polar organic solvents. The method for producing the soluble and conductive polymer comprises a step of polymerizing a monomer in a small amount of water and an organic solvent. The soluble and conductive polymer is polyaniline, polypyrrole or polythiophene. The acid is one selected from sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfamic acid, dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid, formic acid and oxalic acid. |
