1. A method comprising:
restricting access to an access point to a plurality of client devices having wireless connections with the access point, wherein the wireless connections conform to a wireless networking protocol, wherein a first data transmission rate is a lowest data transmission rate defined by the wireless networking protocol; determining, at the access point, that a second data transmission rate is used between a first client device of the plurality of client devices and the access point, wherein the second data transmission rate is a lowest data transmission rate used by the plurality of client devices, wherein the second data transmission rate is greater than the first data transmission rate; and responsive to said determining that the second data transmission rate is the lowest data transmission rate used by the plurality of client devices, setting, at the access point, a beacon frame data transmission rate to the second data transmission rate. |
