CLEANING DEVICE AND METHOD

A cleaning device for cleaning a marine element towed in water and related methods are provided. The cleaning device is configured to follow a bypass rail attached to the marine element when an obstacle is encountered along the marine element. Thus, the cleaning device passes the entire marine element, from one end to the other, irrespective of the nature of the obstacle. The cleaning device includes a cleaning unit for cleaning the marine element.

1. A cleaning device for cleaning a marine element that is towed in water, the cleaning device comprising:
first and second sections connected to each other so that the first section is configured to move relative to the second section; the first section including a first connecting mechanism configured to maintain the first section attached to the marine element; the second section including a second connecting mechanism configured to maintain the second section attached to the marine element; each of the first and second connecting mechanisms having corresponding rollers configured to contact the marine element and maintain the cleaning device centered relative to the marine element; and a cleaning unit configured to contact and clean the marine element.
