PURPOSE: To extend the battery service life by selecting a frequency of a clock signal depending whether an input coordinate is resident in a pen entry operation area requiring high speed processing or in an entry operation area without any hindrance even at low speed processing. CONSTITUTION: Plural frequency clock generating means 1, 2 generate a clock signal with plural frequencies as a clock signal synchronously with or acting like a reference signal of a central processing unit 6 or the like. An entry means 3 accepts entry including hand-writing entry. An input coordinate position detection means 4 detects an input coordinate in the XY coordinate system to the entry means 3. An input coordinate discrimination means 8 references the input coordinate detection means 4 to discriminate whether or not the input coordinate is within a prescribed area preset by the entry means 3. A clock frequency changeover means 7 switches higher frequency of the clock signal generated by the plural frequency clock generating means 1, 2 by a prescribed procedure when the input coordinate discrimination means 8 discriminates that the input coordinate is resident in an area determined to be a hand-writing entry area requiring high speed processing.
