PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light receiving/emitting element having high sensing performance.SOLUTION: A light receiving/emitting element 1 includes: a semiconductor substrate 2 of one conductivity type; a light emitting element 3a obtained by laminating a buffer layer 30a, a first contact layer 30b, an active layer 30d, and a second contact layer 30f on an upper surface of the semiconductor substrate 2; and a light receiving element 3b which has an opposite conductivity type semiconductor region 32 doped with impurities of an opposite conductivity type on the upper surface side of the semiconductor substrate 2. Since the buffer layer 30a and the first contact layer 30b are of the one conductivity type and the second contact layer 30f is of the opposite conductivity type, a leakage current generated by driving the light emitting element 3a is prevented from flowing into the light receiving element 3b, whereby the light receiving/emitting element 1 being relatively compact and having high light detection accuracy can be provided. |
