PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus capable of coating an outer peripheral surface of a coated member in a substantially cylindrical shape with paint while suppressing both sticking on a non-coating region and variation in film thickness.SOLUTION: A coating apparatus 500 includes a paint tank 512 which is provided with a first free expansion/contraction through hole 512b-1 and held watertight, and a mask sheet member 514a which is provided with a second free expansion/contraction through hole 514a-1 above the paint tank 512, and extends along the outer peripheral surface of the paint tank in contact with the outer peripheral surface to mask the outer peripheral surface. The coating apparatus is characterized in painting in which the mask sheet member 514 is moved up to a position where a non-coating region is masked and the paint tank 512 can be moved up to a position where the first through hole 512b-1 overlaps with the mask sheet member 514, and expansion of the second through hole 514a-1 by expanding mechanisms 515, 516 together with the first through hole 512b-1.
