The actuator has a correcting element made from a shape-memory alloy which can be heated consisting of several turns of thin wires (1). The actuator causes elements (2) to be brought together, generating a force (P,11). The turns can be insulated from one another and heated by passing an electric current through them. The turns can be isolated from one another by spacers. They can be carried on moving elements. The correcting element can be fitted with thermal insulation and provision for cooling can also be provided.
