Manipulation treatment apparatus is disclosed comprising a manual treatment table (3) on which a patient may be supported. Force application means (20) fixed relative to the table apply a force to contact means, such as a belt (51) or plate (26), adapted to contact a portion of the patient. The force application means (20) includes oscillating drive means adapted cyclically to apply and release a force to the contact means. A load cell measures the force being applied. Control apparatus is provided for controlling the timing and amount of force applied during each cycle, taking into account signals derived from the load cell. The practitioner can set the desired force, cycle frequency and treatment time, which, because the apparatus does not tire, can be longer than the practitioner could reasonably carry out. |
