<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED illumination device equipped with a water-cooling type heat-dissipation mechanism suitable for a downsized LED illumination device. <P>SOLUTION: The LED illumination device includes: an LED 4; a heat-dissipation chamber 58 thermally connected to the LED 4; a first and a second chambers 22, 24 to store a coolant liquid; a communicating passage 26 to mutually communicate with the first and the second chambers 22, 24; a check valve 28 which is deployed in the communicating passage 26 and in which flow of the coolant liquid from the first chamber 22 to the second chamber 24 is prevented; a compressed air supply unit 30 in order to supply compressed air into the first chamber 22; a first coolant liquid feeding passage 38 in order to feed the coolant liquid of the first chamber 22 into the heat dissipation chamber 58; and a second coolant liquid feeding passage 46 in order to feed the coolant liquid from the heat-dissipation chamber 58 to the second chamber 24.
