<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester derived from biomass resources that is less hydrolyzed by impurities and is suppressed in deterioration in mechanical properties such as tensile elongation in the case where a dicarboxylic acid and/or a diol derived from biomass resources is used as a raw material of the polyester. <P>SOLUTION: The water content or the terminal carboxy group content in the polyester that is obtained from the dicarboxylic acid and/or the diol from biomass resources is caused to fall within a specific range.
