PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To edit a moving image, which is encoded by using inter-frame encoding, for the unit of a frame while keeping the state of code string without editing the moving image again when editing that moving image. SOLUTION: There are recording media 207 and 208 recorded with the code strings for which 1st and 2nd moving images are encoded by using intra-frame encoding and inter-frame encoding. The code strings including code strings in a frame group preceding to an editing point in the 1st moving image and a picture group to be referred to by this frame group directly or indirectly for intra-frame encoding are reproduced from the recording medium 207, the code strings including code strings in a frame group following an editing point in the 2nd moving image and a frame group to be directly or indirectly referred to by this frame group for inter-frame encoding are reproduced from the recording medium 208, and these reproduced code strings are recorded in a recording medium 209.
