摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system in which 5 kinds of the same picture element data or over are set in the case of applying run length compression to picture element data by providing a compression data specific step and a compression data generating step. SOLUTION: In the case of reading a sub video image unit header, a microcomputer 112 discriminates whether the mode is an interlace mode (active = '1') or a noninterlace mode (inactive = '0') based on a setting value (active = '1'; inactive = '0') of a sub video mode information parameter. The microcomputer 112 gives a mode signal to a selection signal generating section 118. The generating section 118 receiving the mode signal switches the signal alternately at each production of the horizontal synchronizing signal and provides a video output to an external TV or the like. Thus, a video image with double density to that of the original image is displayed on a TV screen. The entire system including an encoder is made small.</p>
